Dim t

8 November 2006

I ate a rather good meal at Dim t in Hampstead. Me and the wife were on our way to the cinema and needed something quick and good. The staff in there were on the ball. They picked up on our body language and brought the food quickly - no messing around - so we got to the film in time for even the trailers.

It's a funny place. I've never been there before though I have passed it many times. It's slightly mroe upmarket than your average noodle bar - as you would expect in Hampstead. The prices reflect that - a bowl of noodles was £7.65. Just a bit more than you would normally pay but not so much more as to feel the pain - clever pricing.

You can "make your own dish". Which means you choose the meat, type of noodles and sauce. I went for a Japanese theme and had chicken with japanese noodles and a teriyaki sauce. It's not going to blow you away, but for a quick and cheap supper it holds its own. And the place had a nice atmosphere. Fun decor and pleasant staff. A little too Hampstead perhaps, all full of yummy mummy's and precocious kids.

Worth a try.
